Washington, DC, Oct 30 - Today, Congressman Scott Murphy announced that he has begun reviewing the newly introduced health care reform bills in the House of Representatives: H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act, and H.R. 3961, the Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act of 2009. As part of Congressman Murphy’s commitment to openness and transparency, he has posted both of these bills online for review and input by his constituents.
 
“I was elected to this office on a promise to establish openness and transparency in everything I do, which is why I am asking for the input of my constituents as I weigh the newly introduced health insurance reform legislation,” said Rep. Murphy. “Since taking office, I have visited nearly 90 communities in the 20th District, held over 30 Congress-On-Your-Corner forums, and hosted meetings with constituents to hear their thoughts and concerns on many issues, especially health care reform. As part of my promise to be open and transparent, I will continue to listen from the 20th District’s hard working individuals and families on this critical issue.
 
“As I work through the new versions of health care reform, I must reiterate my belief in how critical and necessary health insurance reform is for America, and that in order to enact real reform we must take adequate steps to reduce costs from the system, protect seniors’ benefits and provide affordable, quality insurance without increasing already skyrocketing premiums. I look forward to not only reviewing this legislation, but to reviewing the thoughtful input from the people of the 20th District.”
